Grade Assignment And Scoring
Averages
St Jago provides averages as the mean of several distinct scores. Zero is a valid grade and is averaged. A grade of ABS (absent) or NA (not assessed) when award is not averaged.
Cumulative Score
A cumulative average is always the average (cumulative average) or sum (cumulative grade) of all grades attained over several periods.
Examination Average
This is an average of the examination grades for all subjects taken in a single period. This is normally displayed on the final report of students.
Class Average
This is an average of the class grades (continuous assessment grades) for all subjects taken in a single period. This is not normally displayed on the final report of students but may be available on extended and electronic reports.
Final/Term Average
This is an average of the final grades (often called a term grade) for all subjects taken in a single period. This is not normally displayed on the final report of students but may be available on extended and electronic reports.
Grade Point Average
This is an average of the grade point for all subjects taken in a single period. This is normally displayed on the final report of students. The Grade Point is a rational assignment based on the final grade for the subject.
St Jago does not use a weighted Grade Point system.
A cumulative grade point average is provided on transcripts and on request.
Letter Grade
This is a letter grade (A-F,U,ABS) assigned for each subjects taken in a single period. This is displayed on the final report of some students. The Letter Grade is a rational assignment based on the final grade for the subject.
Letter Grade are sometimes displayed in place of or along with numeric average in order to give a representation of the fixed superiority of a student
